Soldiers Field May Again Cause Council Warfare
Strong rumors circulated yesterday that Soldier's Field will be debated at the next Common Council meeting. The initial $14,000 payment for the project was rejected by the Board of Apportionment, with sponsors seeking to bypass by proposing a bond issue to cover the purchase. Mayoral opposition and shifting positions among officials indicate a heated battle among factions over the field, bonds, and city departments.
