Hartford February 18 Republican legislative leaders after a three hour conference with Governor Ribicoff expressed skepticism about his unemployment program calling for a 410 million bonding plan to fund public works and highway construction and to liberalize benefits. They said the plan does not reflect current conditions but would consider it seriously as the special session opens March 4 to address unemployment affecting about 90 000 statewide.

Al Brundage Shot Twice In New Fairfield
Nationally known square dance caller Al Brundage, 38, of Candlewood Shores, was rushed to Danbury Hospital in critical condition with two bullets. One entered his abdomen and the other lodged in a shoulder. Police know the shots came from a .25 caliber automatic, but the shooting scene is not established. His wife Mary was sedated at the hospital as investigators assisted. Brundage once ran Al Brundage's Country Barn in Trumbull and has performed at square dance festivals nationwide.
