Norwich February 14 AP police picked up a 12 year old girl after authorities say she spent money like mad in a store. She bought a car radio set for her father a Valentine’s day girl and luggage tape recorder clothes and shoes. Police found she still had 563 dollars left and estimated her original bundle near 1000 dollars. When asked where she got the money she said my mother gave it to me. Police called the mother and it was true.

Fire destroys tractor trailer on Pike Bridge scene

A gasoline fed fire from a leaking tanker on the Barnum Bridge of the Turnpike destroyed a tractor trailer and damaged a mobile home it was towing after 1 p.m. yesterday. Firefighters from Engines 7 and 3 battled the blaze as traffic backed up for miles. The truck owned by National Trailers and driven by Kheld Paplay of Searcy Arkansas was en route to And Lane. No injuries were reported.
