Planes scoured Lake Erie from Buffalo to Dunkirk and into Canada seeking ten fishermen reported missing after ice floes broke up off Windmall Point. Norwalk February 6 Special Correspondent Following Coroner Phelan’s inquest into the death of James Oble Jr of Oakdale John Tullio was arrested on a manslaughter charge and jailed in Norwalk on $10,000 bond. He had been free on $2,000 bail on a prior manslaughter charge. Tullio shot Cole in his Heary street grocery store Saturday night, mistaking him for a bandit. The inquest ran from 10 a.m. to after 7 p.m. in chambers at City Hall with police and press present. Witnesses kept in the lockup were examined separately. accounts by Pascariello and Sandant conflicted over Cole’s actions in the store.
Coinciding with Colonel Donovan unable to attend the McKinley association dinner at Stratfield, heavyweight champion Gene Tunney may attend. Arthur F. Connor says Tunney is en route from Florida and invited. final attendance uncertain until tomorrow. Donovan sends manuscript in lieu of speech and Connor seeks another national figure speaker.
In Southington, Matthew Gaynor died from a chest wound after being shot by his father John Gaynor from a woodshed concealment. The elder Gaynor is in custody on a first degree murder charge. The case comes after the son reportedly rebuked the father for drinking. Police pursued the elder Gaynor, who was found near the scene. a shotgun was recovered from the woodshed. Matthew Gaynor, 30, died in Bristol hospital. the father faces a military hearing tomorrow in Town Court. Surviving relatives include his mother, two brothers, and a sister.
Charles A. Lindbergh completed his Santo Domingo to Port-au-Prince flight aboard the Spirit of St. Louis. After circling clouds at 6000 feet he arrived exactly at 2:00 pm local time to a crowd of about 8000, then taxied to the hangar guarded on the field.
Chicago February 6 The United States Civil Service Commission denied any plan for a second examination for prohibition agents who failed the first. President William C Dening said no announcement or justification exists for such a test and that the first exam is not yet completed while thousands of applicants are being orally examined. He noted a potential second test could be more difficult but no preparations have been made.
Grace Moore, formerly a church choir singer from Jericho, Tennessee, makes her Metropolitan Opera debut in the benefit performance of La Boheme at the Metropolitan tonight. Gov. Horton of Tennessee and Senators McKellar and Tyson attend. Moore’s triumph follows years of study and earlier success in musical comedy.

The meeting at Madison Square Hotel under Mensa Church League called for further study and a luncheon next Monday to continue discussions.
