Budapest reports Premier Janos Kadar announced that Russia has granted Hungary a 50 million dollar loan to aid its post revolution economy. Nepszabadsag says more aid is needed and Western loans are sought, with estimates Hungary may require up to 400 million dollars in hard currency to recover. Western governments and other Eastern bloc nations are discussed as potential lenders, with talks already under way with several countries.

New York Cops Bust Phony Bomb Hoaxer at Grand Central
Police found a six inch pipe device wrapped in a sock in a Grand Central telephone booth and arrested Morris Rubin 37 who claimed to make smokers pipes. Detectives called the device a hoax and Rubin said he had previously phoned bomb warnings. He carried 92 dimes and officials numbers, including Mayor Wagner's, in his pockets. Hartford Bomb Scare Clears Strand Theatre Show
Hartford police evacuated 1,500 patrons at the Strand theatre during a screening of Baby Doll after an anonymous call claimed a bomb was planted. A one hour search found no device and patrons returned as the investigation continued. The call came in at 6:30 p.m. and described the bomb to blow up Baby Doll. Police Lt.
