An elderly Milford veteran of the Vietnam era died from auto injuries during a Christmas weekend crash spree across Connecticut. The report notes several fatalities including a Bridgeport youth in Lexington and a Marlborough hit and run victim, with details on suspects and authorities.
A 16 year old boy, Philip Barnhill, died after being struck by a car on Main Street. The driver, Stephen Harmon, 23, a crewman on the U S S Blenny at Groton, was charged with negligent homicide. The collision occurred Monday night near Crystal Avenue.
Roosevelt Raceway starts its 1968 winter harness season with an 8 p.m. first race post time from January 3 to March 2. WATERBURY AP Ten year old Nancy E Clock of Watertown died at Waterbury Hospital from injuries suffered when struck by a car Dec 18. Roberta Temple Jr, the other girl hurt, was reported in good condition. Police charged Albert Hresko of Watertown with reckless driving and driving under the influence. he was freed on a $1000 bond. Police could not say Monday night if Hresko would faces further action.
The elk is described as highly polygamous with bulls reportedly gathering as many as 60 cows during the mating season. This behavior is noted as distinctive among American deer.
Nearly 300 inmates at Fairfield State jail enjoyed a turkey dinner with all the trimmings during the annual Christmas festivities. Jail Director George Conway said inmates also received presents from the Salvation Army and the jail.
