More than one million pieces of first class mail were dispatched from Bridgeport during the week including Christmas. A force of about 400 clerks and carriers worked day and night for 19 days to meet the unprecedented rush, with a record 267000 pieces handled on one day last week. The augmented staff delivered practically all mail though some parcels were dumped from eastern terminals yesterday.
