Nativity Pageant at United Church Holds Christmas Service

A Nativity pageant at United Church occupied yesterday morning’s service, lit by candies and depicting the adoration of shepherds and angels for the Christ child. Dr. William Horace Day preached a Christmas sermon asserting the birth of Christ as a universal, world spanning wisdom beyond then current ages.

Cake for Near East Aid At Port Street Church

A Christmas service at Port Street Congregational Church featured a cake built from cash contributions to the Near East Relief fund. Over 275 was raised as part of a playful scheme led by three wise men, Robert Moore, Marshall Morris and Wheeler Clark. The cake was baked during carols while pamphlets covered the contributions and were later given to children.

Jenkins Bros Workers Receive Christmas Bonus Today

The 600 employees of Jenkins Bros Valya company will receive over 50000 as a Christmas bonus, amounting to 5 percent of total earnings for the year. Employees who resigned for illness and were approved by the medical department will also get 5 percent of earnings to date.

Christmas Music in Pridgeport Churches Tonight

Shriners to Stage Christmas Party for 1000 Children

The Pyramid Temple plans a Christmas party at the high school auditorium at 2 PM for over 1,000 children. Entertainment includes motion pictures and novelty shows, followed by candy fruit and toys. Judge Frederic A. Bartlett chairs the committee organizing the event with invitations extended to supporters.

School Board to Meet This Week on 1924-25 Budget

The Board of Education will convene in the latter part of this week to review the 1924-25 budget. President Elmer H. Havens announced the session as they consider whether the requested amount will differ from the current year. The current appropriation totaled 1,704,582.50 dollars.

Cirgus Employes Dinner Meet Santa at Barnum and Bailey

Chevy employees will gather tomorrow noon in the Barnum and Bailey winter quarters on Norman Street for the annual Christmas party and dinner. Over 200 are expected to attend as a monster Christmas tree is trimmed and a seating plan arranged. Joseph D. Miller, in charge of the program, will be Santa Claus and distribute gifts between 12 and 1 pm. Vaudeville acts and amateur entertainers are included in the program with officials such as Manager Fred Worrell and department heads announced.

Crosby to speak at Lions meeting on Bridgeport topics

Bridgeport will be the subject of the Wednesday Lions club luncheon at the Stratfield with Robert A. Crosby, new secretary of Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce, as speaker. J. Price Morris to preside. A crab bag prize of at least 25 cents per member slated for diversion. Rotary and Civic Affairs meetings postponed due to holiday. Wallace M. Bayliss to address the United Commercial Travelers Luncheon club at Stratfield Saturday noon. Bayliss, Kiwanis vice president, brings five years as club secretary.
