Parents of Boy Blinded by Lime Lose Damage Suit
Judge John W Banks of the Superior Court ruled that Ernest Kalaus cannot collect $5,000 in damages from Michael Dennis and John Robstock for an eye injury caused by lime. The 1924 incident occurred when two cans of lime exploded in a youth’s hand as lime was moved from one spot to another. The court found the evidence did not support the allegations and noted the traveler, a small boy at play, would not reasonably be expected to pour water on lime in a cellar after taking it from a barrel.
