Seven charged in burglary ring. Dyers tied to thefts in Miami Beach
County deputies recovered about $3,000 of goods including television sets and car batteries from the Dyer family apartment on South Miami Beach. Johnny Dyer and Mary Dyer faced counts of possession of stolen property and contributing to the delinquency of minors, with Johnny also charged with breaking and entering. Also jailed were Baker and his wife, plus Dyer's stepsons, ages 7 to 15, with Larry Baker charged with breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods. The baby was placed in protective custody after his stroller, claimed stolen, was seized. The family said to have moved seven weeks earlier from Indianapolis. In a separate item, Britons drank an average half-pint of beer daily in 1966, per capita consumption was 20 imperial gallons per person.
