Confederate raiders built by British for Civil War ships
The World Almanac recalls that the Confederate steam ship Alabama and 12 other raiders were built and armed by British contractors during the Civil War. In 1872 a board of arbitration awarded the United States $15,500,000 in gold against Britain for damages caused by these ships.

Exxon Gasoline Curbs to N Y C Are Lessened
NEW YORK AP The regional director of the Federal Energy Office said Exxon will reduce December gasoline deliveries to New York City from 84 000 to 14 000 gallons. Gerald J Turitsky announced NYS liaison facilities to aid New York City fuel requests and that enforcement personnel will be assigned to his office by week’s end. Musicus and Edwards attended.
