McAdoo urges five-year rail government control

Director General McAdoo advised Congress to extend federal operation of railroads to January 1, 1924. He argued the move would remove the issue from politics, allow a broad improvement program, and test unified control’s permanence. The President approved, and the letter was sent to Senator Smith and Representative Sims.

City National Moves to Main Street Premises

City National bank, long housed on Wall Street, begins preparations to move to Main and Bank streets after purchasing the Sturdevant building and the Mule Clothing Store corner property. President Frank Miller says a definite opening date isn’t set but expects soon before January. Vault foundation has been laid and renters are urged to remove safe deposit boxes by December 9.

Bridgeport Men Among 6th Division Veterans Landed at Hoboken

The Kroonland brought back 37 Connecticut men and 24 wounded from the 6th division with others from the 76th and 26th. Follows Husband To Grave Two Days After His Death

Six Killed and Dozen Hurt in Yokohama Explosion

The armored cruiser Brooklyn suffered a catastrophic boiler explosion at Yokohama while coaling. Six crew members were killed and about thirty injured, many seriously, with the ship's commander confirming a formal inquiry.
