Coblenz tonight is under complete American military control with municipal authorities cooperating. The Commerce Committee reported that the measure would let the President requisition and operate packing facilities, cold storage and warehouses to break a suspected monopoly by Swift Armour Cudahy and partners. The plan follows Federal Trade Commission findings urging government control to ensure fair meat supply and prevent price manipulation.

NORFOLK Va Dec 10 A number of buildings at the Hampton Roads Naval base were swept by fire tonight. It started in the power house and, due to inadequate water pressure and a severe northeast gale, officials feared great damage. Within an hour the power house and adjoining structures were destroyed and more fire apparatus was rushed from Norfolk to the base.
