Auto production hits new peak amid GM cutbacks
Detroit AP reports 1966 weekly auto output nears all time highs except 1995, despite GM plant inventory balance cutbacks. US passenger car output totals 199,476 this week vs 204,626 prior week and 214,519 a year ago. truck output 37,962 vs 38,433 and 39,769. Year to date, passenger cars 3,132,438 and trucks 1,610,663. Canada forecasts 16,393 cars and 5,400 trucks this week. Russia to train more chemists here.
