Geologist Reports California Mountains Shifting
Stanford geologist Dr Bauler Wits reported movements of California mountains since 1900. Mount Tamalpais shifted about five feet south, Mount Diablo nine to thirty two feet southeast, and Mount Reyes eleven feet north. The greatest movement occurred near San Luis Obispo where a railway station moved fifteen feet. Movement suggests readjustment of rock masses after the 1806 earthquake and southward pressure near San Juan Bautista.
