Shop Committees to be Elected by War Labor Board Plan
An announcement from Machinists Headquarters outlines a national war labor board plan for shop committee elections. About 40 examiners will arrive to supervise, with two tellers per department and a timekeeper watcher to prevent false ballots. The top three vote-getters per department elect a chairman, with ties resolved by the committee. Foremen and managers are barred during voting, and grievances flow from the department to the firm, then to the executive board, and finally to mediation if needed.
