Connecticut Envoy Faults Eastern Governors Conference
Waterbury August 29 Connecticut personal envoy Montague to the New York conference of eastern governors reported to Governor Piel that little was accomplished toward meeting the coal crisis. He said more would have been done if the meeting were limited to the federal fuel administrator and governors. Montague urged surveying domestic coal shipments and arranging substitutes, noting limited anthracite supply and proposing soft coal for steam and hot water plants. He stressed training a person in every community to burn coal safely and teach dealers and customers proper methods.
