Bathers Affect Modernist Art Designs in Suits
Deauville, France, Aug 20. Modernist art influences appear in bathing attire for Denonville Grande semaine opening tomorrow. Van Dongen has redesigned bathing suits with one piece dresses like abbreviated gowns, wide lapels, and crosswise folds. Leg visibility is emphasized with contrasting stockings, recalling Paul Poiret. Beachgoers apply sunless tan and wear silica-cut outfits from top dressmakers as thousands gather for the week.
