Seven Flyers Still Missing in Pacific Search

San Francisco august 21 the vast Pacific continues to hold the fate of seven who flew from California to Hawaii. Navy army ships and dozens of steamers sweep the sea as relatives and the world hope for rescue. Two planes the Golden Eagle and the Miss Coren led the expedition with four men and a woman aboard. Signals from the missing Dallas Spirit and other craft reach the search with hopeful but uncertain messages as Japanese and American ships linger on the scene.

Geologist Emerges After Six Days Trapped in Cave

Nick-a-Jack cave near Shellmound Tennessee held geologist Lawrence S. Ashley for six days after a fall blocked his route to a larger underground chamber. He dug his way to the surface with a small shovel while caching food, and remained weak but not hungry. A rescue party, including trained mine rescuers, had battled conditions until Gov. Stamford Mayor Grants Saccq Meeting Permit

Stamford August 21 by Associated Press Permission for a peaceful protest meeting was granted by Mayor Alfred N Phillips Jr to local defense committees. The meeting will be held from the plaza of the Town hall tomorrow evening. A platoon of police will be on duty after the demonstration. No trouble is expected given past peaceful demonstrations for the convicted radical.

Boy Carried Mile in New York Sewer Lives

Eight year old Anthony D Agostino fell into an open manhole on the East Side, was swept four miles through New York sewers and washed into the East River where firemen and police rescued him. He was treated at Bellevue hospital for superficial injuries and shock. His companions, BR Humber and others, had been throwing stones into the open manhole.

Elms City Husband Slays Wife Then Kills Himself

New Haven Aug 21 Murder and death by self inflicted ends a reconciliation between John Massaro thirty eight and his wife Rose Massaro maiden name Rose Russell. Bodies found in a room at 30 Parmelee avenue with throats cut and a razor near the scene. Dog led landlady Mrs Mary O neil to the room and blood pooling under the door indicated the tragedy occurred about 9 o clock. Police and medical examiner say both had been dead about an hour. Massaro had worked for Clarke Barone Company excavators and truckmen. Mrs Massaro had been employed as a ward helper. Continued on page eleven.

Vanzetti Partisan Loses Capitol Guide Post

Mrs Leonora Jones a former Boston teacher and Capitol guide who supported Sacco and Vanzetti was suspended indefinitely by the Senate sergeant at arms. She admitted sending letters offering to take the condemned men’s place and wrote to Governor Fuller and Justice Holmes.
