Washington Aug 18 The Inter-departmental board of contracts and adjustments reports federal building operations cost fifteen percent more than private builders would charge. A new contract form will be used to reduce costs in the five year 165 million dollar building program. The report cites uncertainties and hazards in federal contracts that raised prices and notes earlier practices pushed contractors away.

Girl Admits She Shot War Veteran in Pa Farmhouse
Gertrude Card a twenty year old from Scranton is jailed in Honesdale Pa on a murder charge for killing Anthony Shaldone a World War Veteran of Binghamton NY at the Knapp farmhouse in Poyntelle. She said I shot Shaldone I had to do it after he came with a gun to take me away and that they had shared a past in Binghamton. Police say Shaldone and three men went to Poyntelle Tuesday night to kidnap her.
