Bridgeport Man Bequeaths 100 For Perpetual Prayer

Max Nassner of Bridgeport died August 5 leaving a will filed in probate. He bequeathed $100 to a Jerusalem organization for Kaddish to be said in his memory forever, with executors from New York and the estate valued about $4,000. The will also provides a widow’s share and a perma nent monument, plus further legacies and conditions for distribution and care of graves.

Cleveland August 14 AP The soft coal strike nears settlement as United Mine Workers and operators near a contract covering 60 million tons annual output. Drafts were prepared by committees and signing expected tomorrow. Miners and operators total affected workers estimated between 50,000 and 76,000 with rail and coal shipments already disrupted nationwide.

Youth Who Broke Out of Jail To Be Returned

Franklin Lindsey, 19, and an accomplice escaped from a county jail and fled toward New York in April 1931 after stealing a Springfield auto. A Greenwich police chase led to a struggle. Lindsey was later confined as mentally unfit at a state hospital. Bridgeport authorities were notified to return him to custody for reconfinement.

Waborer Found Dead From Gas Poisoning

John Mason a 71 year old laborer was found dead from gas poisoning in a boarding house room at 170 Clarence Street. He had paid a week’s rent Saturday and retired to rest when a gas tube set aflame. Survived by his wife and six children including Thomas John and William Mason.
