British quell mutiny of Indian prisoners at Presidency Jail
Calcutta reports a mutiny by about 1,006 inmates at The Presidency jail was crushed by the military. About 400 prisoners escaped and 2,000 gathered to assault wardens before guards opened fire. Shootings and scattered clashes caused many casualties among the prisoners.

Runaway Wagon Crash Fatality at Higganum
Middletown April 25. Joseph Whyehadil, 47, of Higganum died at Middlesex hospital from injuries after being thrown from a wagon in a Higganum runaway. His wife was also thrown but only lightly hurt.
