Living costs hit new peak as prices rise in March
Washington April 24 AP reports higher spring prices and clothing costs pushed living costs to a new March peak at 105 percent of the 1997-59 baseline. The Labor Department noted gains in services, fruits and vegetables, prescriptions, and medical fees while gasoline eased. Wage earners face higher living costs with about 67,000 workers getting pay boosts and factory earnings up marginally from February.
