Ribicoff Proposes Cabinet Level Education Department

Senator Abraham Ribicoff proposed creating a cabinet level Department of Education to consolidate 29 federal education programs. The plan would absorb the HEW Office of Education and include Head Start, Follow Through, Job Corps, and Manpower Act programs now in Labor.

Palm Sunday Observances Mix Traditional and Modern Roles

Relatives Sought for Valachi Body in El Paso

Joseph M. Valachi, 66, Cosa Nostra informer, died Friday at La Tuna Correctional Institution. Officials say no relatives have claimed the body, delaying funeral plans and shipment. Valachi testified before a Senate subcommittee in 1963 and faced a $100,000 bounty. He was held in a special cell with tight guard and separate meals at La Tuna.
