Bridgeport assessors urge in person appearance to file tax lists. By noon today 6,575 of 11,087 taxpayers had filed. 247 lists were received today. Each year 800 to 1,000 fail to file and incur a 10 percent penalty, which this city says offsets veterans exemptions. Last year taxables with penalties totaled 267,431. veterans exemptions were 243,730. penalties exceeded exempted taxes by 3,875.54. This year in person filing is required unless ill, with the office open evenings 7 to 9 and Monday night.
