Bridgeport selectmen announce a two day voter registration session at city hall on Saturday October 25 and Monday October 26 from 9 AM to 7 PM. About 700 new voters are expected. first lists will be distributed in barber shops and saloons on December 3. Names must appear on the lists or voters should contact registrars to confirm eligibility.
New York October 14. Search was under way on land and sea for Albert J. Jewell an aviator from Hempstead who vanished yesterday after leaving Hempstead in a monoplane bound for Staten Island. A NW wind drove the craft out to sea as rescuers scoured harbor approaches. Jewell 27, worn a life preserver and pneumatic waist tube, could not swim. hope of survival fading. His home was in New Brighton Island where he ran a store.
Bartford October 14 suit brought against Mutual Profit of New York by E. Hirth of this city in the court of common pleas on four counts seeking 1000 damages. Hirth alleges contracts since 1909 required 4.26 quarterly in advance for 18 years then 1.00, with payments held by the company, which refuses to return. The case seeks to settle rights of funds and tests broader claims against the company after license renewal was denied. Service has been made on the banking and loan commissioner.
The funeral party accompanying the late Major H Wigmore, military attaché at the American Embassy in Japan, will sail from Yokohama tomorrow. They expect to reach Greens Park by November 1 and deposit the remains temporarily at Moore Mausoleum in the parts. Mrs N H Heft of this city Moore and Mrs Wigmore.

The Fairfield Mill Hill residence of Samuel T. Davis Jr, president of Locomobile, burned midday due to an attic chimney defect. Mrs. Davis and staff evacuated as flames engulfed the old timbered house, with fire fighting hampered by inadequate equipment and high wind. valuables saved but the 14 room frame mansion was lost, with losses estimated between 8000 and 15000 dollars.
Detroit Oct 14 The chamber of commerce of the United States and its local chambers and allied groups have approved by referendum the Owen Glass currency bill now before Congress. The board of directors completed the canvass reporting 303 votes for and 17 against the committee’s report.
Alice Naomi Moore, daughter of Mr and Mrs William Moore of 595 Harrall avenue, married J Henry Redgate son of Police Captain and Mrs John H Redgate in a nuptial mass at St Augustine’s church. Rev John J Kennedy officiated. The bridal party included Miss Sylvia Hannon and Edward J Redgate. After a breakfast at the bride’s home, the couple departed for a honeymoon to Washington DC and other southern points, planning to be at home at 778 Washington Avenue after November 1. Six injured as a large plate glass window blew out in a new block in Meriden.
Cardiff October 14 A massive blast at Universal Colliery near Cardiff trapped hundreds underground. Rescue teams retrieved 500 workers, with 400 plus still believed buried as fire and afterdamp hampered efforts. Wives and relatives watched in anguish as officials reported little hope for the trapped men.
Albany Oct 14 Impeachment managers ask to amend article IV of Governor Sulzer’s impeachment to include testimony by Ambassador Morgenthau and Public Works head Peck. They argue the evidence shows attempted subornation of perjury, a felony, beyond the current misdemeanor charge.
Mies May Staron of 175 Church Street sustained injury when her left hand became caught in a machine at the U M C plant. The incident was reported by local authorities and is under investigation to determine safety compliance and potential negligence.
A woman was badly mangled at the U M C Company plant this morning. Dr George B Cowell, company surgeon, treated her at Bridgeport hospital where surgical attention was given. Amputation may be necessary.
A Brewster businessman, George W. Ashmore of the Haines Pond Hotel, and his chauffeur pursued a woman said to be his wife in Bridgeport after an auto chase. A chauffeur reported the car was in a Fairfield avenue garage. police say credentials were needed to act. Ashmore later took the car home, with unknown outcome for the chauffeur and Mrs. Ashmore.
Democratic primaries decide mayoral candidates Frederick C. Mullins and John M. Donnelly with a record turnout expected. Voting sites listed citywide from State Street to Stratford Avenue, rallies favor Mullins in Twelfth and Third districts while Donelly backers campaigned in Ninth and First districts.
Stanislaws Pevat and Joseph Erples cot 20 years old living at 4 Caroline Street are reported in serious condition at Brideport Hospital after a mysterious stabbing affray near Willard and Hallett streets. They attended a Sadler's Hall celebration before the attack, were followed by an unknown man who slapped one and knelt under a knife strike. Police report a suspected implicant seen fleeing, as doctors treat the victims.
Washington October 14 four representatives of the American Bankers Association delegated by the Boston convention assailed administration currency proposals before the Senate banking committee. They criticized retirement of circulation tied to bonds, forced segregation of capital and deposits, federal reserve banks, and out of town check collection limits. Additional delegations from New York and Kansas were to present opposing views.
In Govans suburb an Edgemere sanitarium fire killed ten patients early today. Mrs Reheere Strauss and Mise Ida Tear ly, both of Baltimore, perished with eight others as the interior buildings burned unseen. Nurse Mise Heberly suffered serious burns aiding in evacuations. eighteen patients were sleeping at the time.
