Queenstown May 29 The American Line steamer Haverford ran aground in dense fog near Cork Head off Daunt Rock while disembarking passengers. About 1,000 aboard including 150 in second class. 700 were on board when tugs began rescuing as crews and passengers were evacuated. The ship built 1901 measures 581 by 59 feet with tonnage 11,635 gross. Captain Evans commands.

Life sentence for murdering his young wife
Willimantic, May 39. Wile b Lambert, 60, pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree in the criminal superior court and was sentenced to life in state prison.
