A radical three platoon reorganization sweeps the police force with new duty cycles, patrol patterns, and strict conduct rules. Captains and lieutenants reshuffle posts, assign shift duties, and introduce nightly patrol parity. doormen at all precincts are listed with shift times.
A series of three auto accidents occurred near Bridgeport and Hartford corridors on Sunday. One vehicle, traveling from Hartford to Bridgeport, crashed into a tree, injuring two occupants who were rushed to a hospital. a second car struck a pole, damaging radiator and engine. a third car ran off the road into a ditch near Beardsey Park. Hartford police reported William Gardner, 21, a convict at Wethersfield State Prison, escaped Sunday night or morning, last seen near Hartford, with prior theft conviction and a one-to-five-year sentence.
A landslide on the Danbury to Poughkeepsie line of the New York New Haven and Hartford near Poughkeepsie N Y blocks tracks for hours. The eastbound Federal Express from Washington to Boston was diverted via Hartford Winsted and Hartford route rather than Danbury New Haven and New London. Frank Flynn of West Avenue suffered severe burns from molten metal at the Bridgeport Malleable Iron Company and was treated locally then moved to a general hospital for observation with expected recovery.
Bridgeport’s Flood Relief Fund via secretary treasurer Frank T Staples sent 2500 by bank draft to aid flood sufferers in Ohio and Indianapolis. One draft for 1500 went to Col M L Wilson treasurer of the Ohio Flood Relief Commission and another for 1000 to W L Pippas of the Dayton Citizens Relief Committee. Local collectors were appointed led by Mrs W H R DuBois Mrs L L Young Miss Anna Turton and Miss Marion R Phelan as canvassers city wide with house to house rounds. Board of Trade president Fred Enos approved expanding solicitors if needed. The total subscriptions reported noon today reached 32053 82 not counting a benefit event at Poll theatre expected to add about 1300. Cash received by Staples totaled 1263. The committee allocated 1000 to Dayton and 1500 to the Ohio fund in Columbus, hoping to improve statewide distribution. Meigs Co. donated 150 in new clothes to Ohio. Local donations from many residents and groups added to the fund. Governor Cox and Governor Ralston replied with thanks, urging funds be sent to Ohio and Indiana relief channels.
In London on March 31 suffragettes disrupted the parliamentary committee probe into British wireless contracts as David Lloyd George, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, faced further questioning. A suffragette shouted, and Lloyd George declared, I object to that man using the word principle. He is a traitor. He has betrayed the women.
Authorities report Margaret Mott, 22, and Erastus Burns are held in New Haven on a breach of the peace warrant after a mother alleged her child was misled by the elderly man who has not yet divorced his first wife. They will be brought back to the city late today. Mott worked at a Main Street department store and lived at a boarding house on Golden Hill Street.
A Pittsburgh chorus girl Miriam G MacDonald eloped with Biman C J McCann a New York broker with backing by Mr and Mrs Frank Whitcomb and others. After a sensational chase they secured a license in Bridgeport and married at Assistant Town Clerk Mullins residence. The party then headed to Kingston to await reconciliation.
Late Saturday night Leo Shetinski appealed to Patrolman Patrick McPadden claiming he was robbed by three men under the Pembroke street viaduct of over $20.

New York news wires report J Pierpont Morgan died at 12 05 pm. The death was announced by Henry Y Davison of Morgan partners at J R Morgan Co. Davison said he received a cablegram noting the financier had passed away after a brief illness. Bank and city bankers expect no major stock market impact. Morgan had recently curtailed active management and entrusted partners with duties while abroad.
