The debate touched party pledges, lobby influence, and the fear of misused treasury funds as Miner and others pressed to table or postpone further.
Hartford April 1 The committee on constitutional amendments reported unfavorably in the House to day on a bill granting equal suffrage regardless of sex. The main question of woman suffrage was also reported unfavorably. Motion to set the matter as order of the day for April 9 was defeated, and discussion will resume tomorrow at noon. Mrs. William T. Hincks, president of the Equal Franchise League, said a referendum vote will be taken tomorrow noon on the subject, with over 13,000 women and men expected to participate. She expected the report to spur broader educational campaigning and to contrast Connecticut with New York, which recently granted suffrage.
