Charlton Held in Jail Ahead of Extradition to Italy
Jersey City June 238 Porter Charl ton confessed murderer of his wife whose body was found in Laks Como Italy was arraigned before Judge Blair and remanded to the county jail until July 8. Attorneys delayed action to see state department steps on extradition and to allow alienists more time to study his mental condition. Charlton showed no interest in court and was moved without handcuffs. Counsel said he doubted Charlton would be sent back to Italy for trial.

Bohan Hangs Himself in County Jail Cell
John Bohan of Newtown, a 16 months prisoner on weapons and assault charges, hanged himself with a rope in his cell during the night. The body was found by a night guard as relatives were notified. He had hidden two short pipes and rope on his person and used an air shaft to form a makeshift noose, after standing on his cot to reach the shaft. Bohan previously threatened a cousin, Constable Patrick Cay, and briefly escaped the North avenue jail before surrendering in New Haven, tired of fugitive life.
