Detroit has prepared lavish welcomes with hundreds of automobiles and a monster parade featuring Elk members and other scenes from American life. John B. Lombard former treasurer of Framingham was sentenced by Judge William B. Stevens in East Cambridge to not less than 15 nor more than 30 years in state prison. Missionary held as firebug amid arrest spree
Ameen Sliby head of United Syrian Christians Missions of Connecticut was arraigned in city court on attempted arson charges. Police allege a conspiracy with James Hadad and others to burn Nicholas Smith's Main Street store. Hadad, 19, armed with pistols and a dirk, resisted officers but was restrained. A benzine can found at the scene and a Syrian letter to Sliby prompted the warrant and ongoing evidence collection. Smith remains missing since Tuesday morning.
