Bob Veal Trade Flourishing in This County

Redding June 27 calf trade for veal described as hidden and growing. Prices for three day old calves reach 9 to 12 dollars as hucksters supply Bridgeport and other cities. Law bans meat from calves under three weeks old, but enforcement lags as dairy owners sell to best bidders. Prosecutions bring fines but industry often revives, with Health boards and police aid involved. The article questions enforcement and possible federal cooperation to curb slaughter.
