Poughkeepsie June 21 The fate of Frank Schermerhorn coachman at Barnes Comptons New York millionaire country place rests on an alleged police confession. Schermerhorn says the confession was forced by torture and that police promised relief from the electric chair. Under Sheriff Hornbeck and Chief McCabe testified about soot marks on Miss Brymers body and on Schermerhorns face and hands. The court ruled the confession hearsay but the prosecution will present the ground and seek the confession in evidence.

Greenport L I June 21 The non magnetic survey yacht Carnegie built for the Carnegie Institute arrived to await instruments and provisions for a three year world trip to make magnetic observations.
