Roosevelt Roams in Foreign Climes Enduring African Expedition
The expedition led by Theodore Roosevelt traversed East Africa and the Sudan from April 1809 to March 1910. Kermit Roosevelt and Leslie Tarlton joined, collecting thousands of mammals birds reptiles and fishes while mapping regions from Mombasa to the Nile. The hunt, funded by friends and conducted under Smithsonian auspices, yielded nearly 12 000 vertebrate specimens and showcased Roosevelt’s survival in the jungle amid hippo attacks and long treks.

Roosevelt's Europe tour stirs crowd and critics
Roosevelt delivered four set speeches and many impromptu talks during a European tour. The Guildhall address drew fierce criticism for alleged meddling and prodding an Egyptian uprising while Cairo and other capitals praised his antiwar and peace stance. He received honorary honors despite royal invitations and royal proximity, though King Edward’s death prevented a planned Berlin royal suite visit.
