Sanitary Conditions In 32 Cities Report Urges Sanitary Reform

An official from Hartford Life Insurance summarizes a report on sanitary conditions in 32 American cities. The study finds many cities rely on contaminated well water, with only about 74 percent using city water and under 60 percent connected to sewers. It notes garbage disposal varied, markets sometimes unsanitary, and typhoid mortality fluctuating sharply, urging sanitary clubs and stronger public health action led by the Life Insurance Presidents association. Savannah, Montgomery, and Montgomery are highlighted for best practices, while widespread improvements are acknowledged.
