Missing Man Held Liable For Fatal Waterbury Shooting

New Haven June 5 Nicola Martino known as Nick Martino is held by Coroner Mixers responsible for the death of Pacquale Trotta in Waterbury. The coroner finds Trotta and Mrs Rosa Periello’s husband housed Trotta during a quarrel at Periello home. Trotta entered from a side door, fought with Periello and then Trotta was shot in the breast by Martino who fled after warning a Periello son. Mrs Periello initially claimed self defense then recanted saying Martino fired the shot.

Telephone Girl Wins Divorce From Roger Smith

Myttie Smith a Stratfield telephone operator obtained a divorce in superior court from Roger Smith, former S N E Telephone Co. employee now in Ocean Park California. Grounds were cruelty and desertion. They wed January 30 1904 in Hartford when she was 16. He drank heavily and frequented other women, including Stella Wright and Miss Bristol, and warned he would not return home.

Pope annuls marriage of Mrs Emmet and Dr Emmet

News from Rome reports Mrs Josephine Drexel Emmet obtained papal dissolution of marriage from Pope Pius with Judge Joseph Tuttle granting the divorce in Bridgeport on May 14 1914. The case shows desertion by Dr Emmet from August 1903 and court permission for Mrs Emmet to resume her maiden name Josephine Wharton Drexel.
