Halifax, December 7. William Barton, traveling auditor for the Canadian Imperial Munitions Board, recounted the Halifax explosion. He described a ten second sequence of rumble, quake, noise, and flying debris, then aided a hysterical woman and helped organize improvised medical relief as Armory officers and soldiers moved to the disaster zone.
Smoldering ruins and debris hide hundreds of dead from the Monte Blanc collision with the Imo in Halifax harbor. Morgues overflow as hospitals and churches race to treat the injured. Aid arrives from nearby towns and an American warship assists in rescue efforts.
Eyewitnesses in Saint John recount the Halifax disaster horror. 14 Mount St Vincent students survived as wreckage claimed lives, including a baby buried under flames. A Richmond area train clerk watched 50 percent of buildings collapse and families die in the chaos.
Washington reports arrangements for a third Red Cross relief train to depart New York at 11 a m today to Halifax. Railroad officials assist to speed transit. John F Moors leads Red Cross relief operations with surgeons nurses and social workers being rushed to the Halifax devastation site.

Bangor Maine dispatch reports Gov McCall and the Massachusetts public safety committee sent a special relief train to Halifax. The train passed through Bangor early today and will cross into New Brunswick at Vanceboro at 9 2. m. and reach Halifax tonight.
Washington reports indicate no ships reached Halifax from 26 states in the latest dispatches. The Red Cross received a $200,000 contribution from William K. Vanderbilt to aid the wounded and needy. George B. Hawley of Washington Terrace celebrated his 77th birthday born December 7, 1840.
