Seven Days War Game Off New England Coast
A massive seven day war game will commence Saturday at one minute past midnight on the Massachusetts coast south of Boston. Major General Bliss leads the invasion with 20,000 troops and a naval force under Captain Gulick to oppose Brigadier General Pew and a Massachusetts defense. The exercise tests artillery, searchlights, wireless telegraphy, and range finding with New York, New Jersey, the District of Columbia and regulars supplying forces.

Stratford Library Lawn Fete and Local Happenings
Stratford readers glimpse a bustling column noting an unprovoked assault by John McGaheny on a Tuesday evening, a trolly dispute over a horse, and a swift sheriff’s lockup. The piece previews the library lawn fete fundraising for the book fund with arts and crafts displays, Indian baskets, home made rugs, photographs, and embroidery. It mentions a potential new assessor candidate Louis E. Peck, a border dispute over $25 damages, a Sept. 2 musical by Lilley camp, and various local residents travelling or visiting relatives, plus community notices on the Camera club exhibit and upcoming Bridgeport show.
