Senate Adheres to Its Action on Barnum Bill
Hartford Aug 11 The Senate with near unanimity stuck to its earlier decision to pass the Barnum bill. While some preferred the Chandler Whitton bill many would rather have the Barnum bill than no bill at all. Lobbyists for telephone electric gas and water interests opposed the Barnum bill as they did the minority bill. Some who voted against it previously would rather see the Barnum bill become law than no legislation at all, explaining today’s adherence. No conference committee was asked and the House yesterday indefinitely postponed the entire question, so the matter will die between houses.
