Blood-letting row at Wiliffs platform spurs calls for crowd control
A Sunday ball at Wiliffs platform on Gay Hill road ended in a large melee with multiple injuries. Fritz Boeker Julius Stolz and the Pankening brothers led the confrontation while Theo and Fritz Boediker aided the attack. The platform manager urged police attendance to prevent further trouble.

Mrs John Thustus sustaining a compound fracture after a two horse wagon loaded with cotton ran away near Wesley. She was thrown from the spring seat and her right leg crushed between wheel and axle. She was taken to Wesley for medical care. Fire destroyed Mrs Julia Amsler home near Hempstead causing about 310,000 loss with no insurance. Neighbors saved wine barrels and the barn.
