Board Proceedings in Rankin County Officers Named
The Rankin County board met with all members present and approved credits for W. S. Crook sheriff and C. J. Stubbs. They appointed new township trustees and an overseer, accepted the resignation of G. R. Cook, and filled the vacancy with S. R. Myers, bonded for $2,000. The board authorized warrants and allowed numerous claims for courthouse, road, and farm expenses, set school term dates, and approved Mayton school relocation.

Hon James K Vardaman born in Jackson county Texas July 26 1861. He lived in Mississippi before reading law in Carrollton and earning license. Twice headed Mississippi electoral ticket and electoral college president, served 1890 1896 in the Legislature, speaker pro tem in 1892 and speaker in 1894. He edited The Commonwealth since 1896 and served in Spanish American War rising to major.

Rankin County School Board Meeting Minutes 1903
Pursuant to adjournment the Rankin county school board met in the superintendent's office on September 9 1903 with all members present. There was no superintendent to preside and the meeting proceeded with the remaining business of the board.
