Rankin County school board meets in 1908 session
The Rankin County School Board met September 28 1908 at the office of the county superintendent with all members present except J O Berry. They discontinued the Watts school due to low attendance and allowed students to attend Goshen Springs or Fannin. They referred plans for white and colored schools near Pisgah to the superintendent and other officials for decision. Adjournment was ordered subject to the superintendent’s call. In other items the commercial section discusses cotton mill growth in the south and the need for domestic manufacture, plus remarks about northern teachers in Meridian and a brief note on the make up of the coming Senate indicating many lawyers and veterans.
