Work Begins On 21 Mile Pelahatchie to Jackson Road
Survey party led by Claude Woodfin begins surveying the 21 mile stretch of the Vicksburg Meridian Road from Pelahatchie toward Brandon. Eight surveyors, including Rankin County native M. G. Harrison, report road grades to be poor in Claiborne and surrounding counties. Plans after survey will be government-approved, with construction likely beginning next February or March and taking eight months to a year and a half to complete.

A Farm Bureau gathering drew many county farmers to the courthouse Saturday. Arnold of Hattiesburg worked in the chancery clerk’s office and H E B Whyte of Finkbine handled courthouse business Tuesday.

Ruth Stingily Finley, born August 2 1883 in Atalla County, died in Woodworth Louisiana after a 10 day illness. She was a devoted wife and mother, active Baptist church member, Sunday School superintendent, WM A president and church clerk. She leaves husband W C Finley a daughter Ruth and extended family.

Twenty Three Gambling Men Brought To Court
The trial of twenty three gambling men held last Saturday in Mayor Patrick Henry's office ended with the men fined fifteen dollars and eighty cents each.
