Mo Gaydens Trip North Through Illinois and Indiana
Brandon Miss November 23 To the Editor I relate my journey with Capt S P Barton from Jackson Miss to Illinois and Indiana to dispel northern ill will toward the South We visited Odin Vincennes Terre Haute Brazil and Indianapolis meeting Senator Whitcomb and others noting coal mines horse farms distilleries and a Terre Haute distillery supplying twelve thousand bushels of corn daily with twelve thousand cattle. We observed hospitality and civil treatment unlike expected and remarked on the Indianola affair and Senator McLaurins efforts. The trip included views of Wabash farms and a dogged tour through a coal belt and a horse center with notable aristocratic locals.
