Former Rankin Citizen Dies in Memphis Auto Crash
John H. Bowers, 52, of Memphis and native of Rankin County, died at his home after a motor accident on a return trip from Lake View Mississippi. His car plunged 40 feet over an embankment and was recovered by C H Smallwood who rushed him home where he died an hour later. He left a widow Claudie and a son, John H. Jr., plus siblings Lena McMasters Zada DePriest and A F Daniels of Jackson.

Mrs. Mary Thornton, a long-time Value resident aged over eighty, fell Saturday morning injuring her head and fracturing her hip. A physician attended, reporting anxiety among friends but not expecting a serious outcome. She lives with her son Doc Thornton, who is away in St. Louis.

A large crowd from the county attended a Monday night event in Jackson to hear Imperial Wizard Simmons speak. The parade from the State Fair grounds featured 371 Klansmen and 68 Kamelia members, followed by a vesting ceremony.
