Natchez Mississippi March 20 the fourth annual conference of the Jewish Religious School Teachers Association of Mississippi opens Friday night and runs to March 27 five rabbis from Mississippi will attend along with Rabbi Max Samfield of Memphis and Rabbi J Rosenwasser of Baton Rouge about fifty teachers from Mississippi towns and several from Memphis will join in the program
Hon. C. H. Alexander spoke to about 500 people under the T. C. depot shed in Crystal Springs on March 18, two hours long, urging support for his United States Senate bid. A stout reception followed as he urged familiar campaign themes. Brandon Mer Co. advertises wagons and buggies offering money-saving deals.
Rankin County Farmers Union held a two day rally at Shiloh with strong attendance and speakers including Prof. J. B. Williams, Geo. S. Ware, and H. W. Bradshaw. Bradshaw urged lifelong farming and praised cotton price gains, warehouse construction, and home production amid boll weevil concerns. Dr. R. N. Whitfield spoke on sanitation and B. G. Alford offered boll weevil guidance. Saturday covered county business.
About 125 people gathered in the Raymond court house to hear State Senator Hebron advocate Ex-Governor Vardaman for the senate. Hebron spoke an hour and a half, Potter also spoke briefly, and a Vardaman club was organized with 65 voters signing the rules.
Senator LeRoy Percy spoke to about six hundred Utica residents on a Saturday afternoon in Utica Mississippi introducing Ben H Wells of Jackson. He discussed national issues and his Senate record and urged re election based on his service in Washington.
J T Beach a 72 year old white convict dies at Rankin farm Sunday attended by his son William Beach a convict about 28 in his last moments. Beach Sr a veteran of the Indian war and Confederate veteran is serving five years for grand larceny. His son is serving three years for seduction and has time remaining. Beach Sr would have completed his term in May and would have received a full pardon, likely due to gubernatorial action, had circumstances not intervened.
Beach from Greene county a respected veteran of Indian and Civil wars escaped from confinement after serving his state. Ill after Oakley hospital treatment he wished to return to Rankin farm but died of acute dysentery Sunday. Convicts contributed to his Christian burial and his body was sent to Greene county for interment. He left a son and two or three other children. He had served in the army against Indians and later the Confederacy.
Mr Newt Nash, a leading farmer and supervisor, told the Newsman in Brandon that farming is progressing well this year. He plans to plant corn for bread and hog feed, and all the cotton possible, but will not grow peanuts until the market improves. he will wait for peanuts to mature for commercial use.
Mrs. ER White underwent a serious operation and is reported in FS RCGE News and Noted. The notice confirms her condition post surgery and outlines brief state of health remarks from hospital staff.
Ernest Turner and Miss Quinn were married at the bride's home by Rev. J S Purcell. The couple receive best wishes for a long life. Mrs. Jennie Morris of Louisiana attends to business here.
