August meeting notes show approvals for a new white public school named Hilton in district No 1 with parcels detailed, a continuation for a second new white school in section 32, other location changes for Bates school, and continued consideration for Leesburg colored school and Dewees colored school. An obituary recalls Mrs Carrie Beulah Burns born 1876 near Polkville Mississippi, widow of J B Burns, a devoted Sunday school worker with six children, and a note of quiet local politics in Rankin County.
