The Busy Hen and Other Farming Jabs in 8th District Debate
A Mississippi reader focuses on rural themes in a column aimed at voters in the 8th Congress district. The piece riffs on farm life by pairing presidential era quips with farming tips and political commentary, urging practical care of orchards, roads, and labor. It quotes Theodore Roosevelt on stable employment and warns that enthusiastic campaign talk should be matched by steady policy.

No Discrimination Against Jackson Roads Asserted
A Jackson reader defends the Rankin County board of supervisors, stating the county pays a contractor to maintain bridges on the pike near Farish Bridge and that Jackson roads receive more county tools and labor than others. County Union Meeting at Dry Creek Attracts Strong Attendance
The Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union county meeting at Dry Creek last Friday drew a large audience. Regular business was handled and discussions proved beneficial to members. State Lecturer Bradshaw delivered an engaging hour long talk, reassured by his strong reputation, and it was noted he is nearly fully recovered in voice. The next county gathering will be with Central Union, chosen over Brandon’s invitation, with hopes our town hosts in the fall. In Dobson Mississippi on Sunday April 1908 at 5:30 p.m., Ben F.
