Report from Cloquet describes the drowning of five settlers from Duluth who were crossing the St. Louis river near the White Face mouth. Their boat capsized against a boulder in swift current. two victims were brothers named Jackson and one victim was a 12 year old girl. A dog that swam to shore alerted nearby settlers to the tragedy.

A man named Erickson drew a razor on a Northern Pacific train near Verndale and slashed his throat, dying instantly. Passengers were startled as the body remained at the scene. No motive or cause was given for the act.

The New York Central broke long distance time records with a special train using new standard passenger engines and private cars carrying Vice President Webb. It covered 436 miles from New York to East Buffalo in 440 minutes with three stops, including a seven minute halt, averaging over a mile per minute.
Walter F. Horton and Miss Van Wie, the school teacher once linked to a sensational murder case in St. Paul, plan to wed in Mauston Wisconsin. Horton says the marriage will prove his innocence despite public scrutiny and past acquittal over the murder of his wife and child.
