The Buffalo Journal reports a large balloon exploded with dynamite and powder after kite tails were ignited near Midland Texas to induce a rainstorm lasting six hours over about 1000 square miles. Proponents claim it could end droughts but skeptics question if rain was inevitable.

Six month limit from September 7 applies after which unfiled claims are barred unless extended. Notice to be published weekly for three weeks in Brainerd Enterprise.
The State of Minnesota serves the defendants in a foreclosure action over two mortgages on properties in Iaid County. Magdalena Robinson, formerly Magdalena Schwartz, is the sole individual defendant with no personal claim against others. The mortgages were recorded November 28, 1881, and later, to secure a single note, with dates noted in the deed records. Dated August 18 1891.
